COVID 19 Update

16th March 2020

All schools are receiving daily updates from the Local Authority, DfE and Public Health England.  The current advice is that schools will remain open.  Should this situation change, we will inform parents / carers immediately via text / email and via our website.

The latest advice from Public Health England, which can be found at:

As a school, one of our main concerns is ensuring that children are protected from any potential spread of the illness. With this in mind, can we ask all parents / carers to be very aware of high temperatures or a new continuous cough in your child. If your child does display these symptoms, please ensure that they stay at home for 7 days.

If your child is absent from school it is essential that you provide school with the information regarding why they are absent – obviously there are a multitude of reasons and it is important that this information is made clear to school.

What we are doing in school to reduce the risk:

  • Al staff are teaching and reminding children, throughout the whole school, of the importance of regular and correct handwashing, along with a reminder of the ‘catch it, kill it, bin it’ approach to coughs / sneezes (posters are displayed around school as a visual reminder)

  • Children are reminded at key times of the day to wash their hands with soap/water e.g. on arrival at school, before / after lunch, etc

  • Alcohol based sanitiser is in place outside the main office for use by any visitors on arrival / departure from the school

  • It is important that children are reassured, helped to remain calm and are able to focus on their day, avoiding panic and overreaction.  School remains a very calm and productive environment where children can enjoy their learning.

  • As is normal practise, the school is cleaned thoroughly either morning or evening
