World Book Day 2021

World Book Day 2021!

Happy World Book Day! Did you know that World Book Day is celebrated in over 100 countries all over the world? This year will be a bit different to usual but we hope you enjoy all the activities your teachers have planned for you.

We know that loads of you love reading for pleasure. We would like to know where your favourite place is to read. Maybe you have a secret den or a cosy corner, maybe you like reading in the bath or under a tree.

Please send a photo of you reading in your best spot, the more unusual the better to admin@stbedes.newcastle.sch.uk

The World Book Day website is worth having a look around. There are lots of activities, recommendations, events, videos and other reading related things. There is also information about the £1 books you can buy with your book token that you received on Parent Pay last week.

There is a live event today at 10.30am called Bringing Reading to Life with the authors Joseph Coelho & Fiona Lumbers, Tom Fletcher and Lydia Monks and special guest Rob Biddulph. You can watch it here: https://www.worldbookday.com/events/

You can also find Free Audiobooks

And for younger children there is ‘share a story corner’  https://www.worldbookday.com/share-a-story-corner/

Finally, you will see below that lots of the teachers have recorded themselves reading a story. Have a look through the list and listen to as many as you would like.

Enjoy the day!
